Wikipedia rules!

Been a while yes, but here’s a very small post, an excerpt from the Wikipedia page for Shea Stadium, former home of the NY Mets, my favorite baseball team from New York City. The sentence in question is in the section detailing the “Features” of this dearly departed ballpark.

“Also, rather than the standard light towers, Shea had lamps along its upper reaches, like a convoy of semis with their brights on, which gave the field that unique high-wattage glow.”

CD Of Music XV!

So Shauvon and I, in about 13 hours, will be taking a road trip to Louisville, KY to attend our good friend (Shauvon’s Best Friend) Andrew Preston’s housewarming party. This is a pretty long drive. I made a mixtape (CD-R) for the trip, and Shauvon’s made another, and we have another blank to make. We’ll need about 6 hours of good music, so these three arent’ going to cut it. My first one is done burning, and mind you, it’s not all driving music, I kinda just ran through the iTunes library and dragged over tracks that I liked. So without further ado, here’s the lineup of the first cd.

  1. Unnamed Song
  2. Pixies – Debaser
  3. Franz Ferdinand – Van Tango
  4. They Might Be Giants – Your Racist Friend
  5. Mirah – La Familia (Guy Sigsworth remix)
  6. Fatboy Slim – Kalifornia
  7. Electric Light Orchestra – Sweet Talkin’ Woman
  8. E-Rotic – Help Me Dr. Dick
  9. Deavid Soul – Yappie Feet
  10. Franz Ferdinand – Can’t Stop Feeling (demo)
  11. David Byrne – Like Humans Do
  12. Camille Yarborough – Take Yo’ Praise
  13. Air – Kelly Watch the Stars
  14. Franz Ferdinand – Shopping for Blood
  15. Elvis Costello & the Attractions – Watch Your Step
  16. The Lefte Banke – Pretty Ballerina
  17. Neu! – Hallogallo
  18. The Traveling Wilburys – Handle With Care
  19. Violent Femmes – Add It Up
  20. Squeeze – Hourglass

What the hell are you on about? Save more money?

So I went on Youtube to find a CE Chevy ad, and I found this even better collection of ad’s from the 80’s on WFLD’s Sunday Showcase. Not only does it have a genuine CE ad, but a classic Open Pit Barbecue Sauce ad, and a promo for the latest additions to WFLD’s perennial classic afternoon lineup.

Where you always save more money!

Usually, the banner ads that have the same 3 pictures on them of sexy chicks are programmed to get your IP and put in a stringĀ  based on where you are. Adult Friend Finder, the most popular of these “get your jollies off 2nite!” websites, is pretty good. It always says “West Lafayette.” The low-rent one on Mininova is always telling me that sexy sex awaits me in Elmhurst! For those of you who didn’t watch Chicago area TV in the 90’s, when I think of Elmhurst, I think of the former Celozzi-Ettleson Chevrolet, on the corner of York and Roosevelt roads. Now I know what’s going on there at the old abandoned car lot!
